The Waffle Pod Slab System is an above-ground foundation method widely used for homes, extensions, and commercial or industrial buildings. It provides strong load-bearing support in difficult soil conditions including expansive, rocky, or collapsible soils.
The system includes a perimeter footing and internal beams or strip footings spaced one metre apart, with polystyrene pods creating voids between them. Edge formwork defines the slab’s sides, and when viewed from below the layout of the footings resembles a waffle giving the system its name.

Solid waffle pods are specifically suited for concrete constructions requiring enhanced load support ideal under heavy walls or where large appliances, plant equipment, or structural loads will be applied.
The spacer holds each waffle pod firmly in position and ensures pods are tight and secure throughout the pour, keeping the entire slab system together and preventing movement during concrete placement.

Used at internal pod corners where four pods meet. Locks all four pods securely in the grid position.

Used along edges and perimeters where only two pods meet. Keeps the outer row aligned and flush.
